Yea but even though we have mods and they dont, their cars are coming stock as fast as our max's w/ mods (granted you dont have SC or nitrous) I mean the new pontiac vibe can most likely beat my maxima- which is sad! I'm not saying we're slow, but the other companies are packing more power into newer cars.

besides
We all know the only cool Dodge to drive is a Viper and a Caravan
the new dodge hemi is pretty cool.

Neon at a stop light

So I am sitting at a light during rush hour traffic in my small, hick college town. There is a Neon next to me with a punk college kid and his girlfriend - the light turns green and he guns it - I thought to myself, OK, lets open up my stock, auto, 95 SE up - wasted the dude so bad it was not even funny. We come up to the next light that turns green and he acts a lot more docile - I guess he had enough "impressing his woman!"

S2000 - 240 HP, 2896 LB, 12.1 lb per HP
350Z - 287 HP, 3363 LB, 11.7 lb per HP

0-60, S2000 6.3 Sec, 350Z 5.7 Sec
5-60, street start - S2000 7.6, 350Z 6.0

The difference, torque. On the street I'll take an engine with plenty of torque every time.

Also, most of these new fast cars are just a performance trim level. 90%+ of the cars on the street are going to be the regular slower models. How many GTPs do you see compared to Grand prix SEs and GTs?

Personally I would not give up the refinement of the Maxima for a little more speed. You can always turbocharge the Max if it bothers you that much.

Somebody read the latest Car and Driver

And I quote:

"The S2000 engine's compressed power band is its downfall. You don't get all the horsepower you've paid for until the engine zings to 8300 rpm, or all the torque -- that is, all 153 lb-ft -- until 7300 rpm."

Well geez, what do you want for an engine that only displaces 2 liters(S2000)? I didn't say it bothered me, I'm just saying it doesn't necessarily take torque to make a car fast/quick. Yeah sure, torque is nice down low(that's why american V8s are nice)
For example: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/fe...205scc_coblot/

Torqueless type-r motor beating a CobraR big block? Just goes to show, if you have a light enough car and enough revs, you can be fast without the weight penality of using a V6 or V8.

Yeah, the Honda motors are impressive. No doubt. It's just that their powerband is one best suited to the track, not the street. Flexibility is key, in my book. That's why I love the VQ Maxima so much. Powerful and lo end torquey enough to almost feel V8 like, but thrifty enough to appeal to my practical and economic side.

What about the "modding scene" where people care more about getting under their hood, learning about cars, and make friends in the process regardless of what it is they have?

People are so competitive and edgy, not to mention spiteful. There is a such thing as friendly competition, you know.
i was referring to the fact of newer cars just getting faster these days.. and everyone here knows that i race everyday and then go and kick peoples ****s afterwards ever since i got into modding cars i have made a lot more friends, i go out with a couple different race teams and work on our cars and just talk on the weekends and such.. read my whole post, although this "newer cars getting faster" thing bothered me a bit a while ago, like i said in my post, for price, speed, reliability, looks, and all around just having a d*mn good car the 4th gen is my pic any day

Re: JAGUAR

Uhhhh supercharged? That's cheating At least BMW did it in the M5 NA. That's impressive.

By the way, the twin turbo Benz V12s produce only 469 hp, and a rather mediocre 516 lb-ft of TQ. That's a wee bit more TQ than the even the NEW 500 hp Viper.
