Squirrels in my engine?!

Hey guys,

Something odd I noticed when I was changing my fuel filter today. Looks like some squirrels decided to spend the night in my nice warm engine bay. The area where the knock sensor is located is littered with acorn shells. My vacuum managed to get most of them out but there's some pieces back in there that are waayy back.. Guess I'll have to wait til a get around to changing the KS.

Think those pieces will cause any problems? Anyone else have this problem?

my kittens like to hide in my bumper. No joking. they crawl in there and hide. sometimes i start my car and i'll see a kitten bolt out from my bumper. funny stuff. good thing they only like the bumper and not the fan belts.

my aunt had a mouse that decided to sleep on the engine one night and when she came over, we smelled the nastiest smell ever which was a fried mouse baked on top of the engine block

Just make sure the squirrels are gone when you change your KS.

Watch out for the nuts! Seriously, a week ago, a lady ended up ditching her minivan b/c a squirrel was using the engine bay to store its walnuts. A number of these ended up jamming the throttle. This lead to the minivan still trying to accelerate eventhough the lady had her foot off the gas pedal. The nuts were finally cleared out from the engine bay & there were enough to fill up a grocery bag!

Oh yeah,
I remember the dead cat in the engine bay of friend's Z story.
Nasty smell after he found out about it after the cat was cut up and died in there for 2 weeks.

oh yeah

less we forget the true potential of maximas...

One of primier reasons we like max is...because it controls varmints you don't need pellet guns.

Our neighbor's cat usually comes over and spends time on top of car engine...but it prefers Acura Legend over max. dunno why. any guess?

I had a customer come in with a Saab and she was complaining about a noise she'd hear in the back of her car when she was on the gas and that it seemed to have lost power. I took the car for a drive and noticed that there was indeed a noise coming from the exhaust and that there wasn't that much exhaust coming out the back. I thought it was a clogged cat, but was wrong. Checked to see if there was anything in the muffler, and again, nothing. Took the section off between the cat and the muffler and saw that there was something blocking the pipe about a foot from the muffler. Turned out to be a squirrel that must have like the smell of exhaust fumes.

I have the same problem with acorns. I don't know if its a squirrel, chipmunks, or mice. What ****es me off is the varmints put acorns into the hood supports. So now when I open my hood, I hear acorns flying around inside the supports. I think the only way to get them out is to take my hood off. Has any one done that before. Is it hard to line back up?
Anyone with this problem, try to get it solved. Mice have eaten all the wiring in my boat trailer. Took several hours to re-wire. I wouldn't want to re-wire a Maxima engine compartment.

Well, with all these fun stories, I'm glad my squirrels only decided to use my engine for a place to have dinner.

V-Tec. You see, the legend and maxima have similar horsepower numbers, but since the V-Tecs aren't as efficient as our VQ's, they produce a lot more heat than our nissan engines do. Instant cat house.
