Just a lil question about rewiring clearance light

First of all, I did make a search but couldn't find anything about this or maybe there was but I didn't find it. I have a 95 and want to "rewire" my clearance light but cutting the nub and I was wondering if the bulb will overheat or something cause it's always gonna be bright? Wouldn't something melt in the corners or is it really a safe mod? BTW, I still have the stock bulbs, not hyperwhite or what so ever.Thx

I've heard that some people actually have like a bubble or some damage done to the lens...

btw, don't those lights get brighter when you have the turn signal on? Does it get like superbrighter when w/ this mod and the turn signal on?

yeah....i have a 95 too and did this about 2 months ago or so...no problems yet so far. i am currently using the stock ones but will be switching back to my other bulbs. i had hyperwhites in there but switched to try and match my phillip blue vision headlights(which neither do). just clip off that nub, use a little electrical tape on there and you're all set. took me about 10 minutes because i had difficulty getting one light to turn on. it's been fine since i've done it and looks much better. do it up!

i haven't heard about the bubble, that would suck...but no problems yet so far...(knock on wood)

i don't think they get superbrighter because they are already at their brightest level...it would probably blow out if it got any brighter i'd assume. but what do i know? just my guess...

The corner lights are 1157 arent they? So you just cut the nub off the ones that came stock in there and it will run brighter? I have a 99 too.

What kind of hyperwhites were u using? I have the same problem, the stock corner light, when its rewired, is too yellow for the Bluevision headlights, and I think most hyperwhites would be too white or too blue. I am thinking about running Polarg's or something. Also, it would be cool if I could get a bulb in there that would match the bluevisions when it was NOT rewired, cuz I think its too bright when its rewired, and distracting to other drivers..

the rewire prevents the light from getting brighter when u put on ur turning signal, instead it keeps the light bright continuously. it actually helps vision tremendously and it is almost as bright as the headlights. looks much cooler. ive had no problems in the 3 months ive had them this way. its ez i recommend it.

No cause the bulb is made of 2 filament so normally, there's only one that lights up when you turn on the lights and then, when you make a turn signal, the second filament turns on so the light looks brighter so you cannot make the light even brighter after this mod cause this isn't a 3rd filament to light up.

Thx everyone for you answers! I think I'm gonna do that mod soon!

obviously this mod works but it doesnt make sense to me about the way you do it. I would think that if you chop off the one nub that the light wouldnt come on unless you were using something that makes it go into the higher watage. having it always be the 27W doesnt make sense to me, but I guess it'll work if all you guys have done it.

How does cutting the power wires of the corner bulbs make the blinkers blink faster?
