opinion on which belt is squeeking

One of the belts in my car recently starting squeeking,

I tried to check them out and could not see any reason why it squeeks from what i could see from under the hood

I changed my alternator belt in August along with my alternator, I was thinking it might be the alternator belt, maybe the guy did a bad job putting it in or used a cheep belt, when he changed my alternator belt he looked at my power steering belt and said it was fine

I called up the dealer for them to check it out to see whats the problem and they say they will charge $85 hr just to look at it to see whats wrong,

Squeeking occurs when:

-I first start my car it squeeks for a second then stops , but recently it been squeeking a lil longer after start up

-when i push the gas it squeeks more then when i let go of the gas it either stops squeeking or quiets down

-sometimes when i make a turn ( which leaves me to believe its the power steering belt but i think its the alternator one because it squeeks during start up

Any ideas to which one it could be , or should i stop being cheep and bring it to the dealer/mechanic to check it out

Would belt dressing oil stop the problem/cause more problems
I read somewhere that if you dont need belt dressing and you put it on that your belts would skip off track a lil

any info would be greatly appreciated
thanks

First, are you capable of changing your own belts?
If you think it is the alternator belt, then tighten/loosen the tensioner. If it is the PS belt, again tighten/loosen the rear tensioner. A chilton or Haynes manual is handy. If the belts are tore up, if so then probably the PS belt. To change it will take you maybe an hour or less. Very simple to do, don't pay that much cash on medial labor.

I agree...change the belts your self. I recomend OE Nissan or Bando. I recently had the squeel at start with 1 year old Gates (they were correctly tightened) changed them to Bando and no probs since.
