trans problem

hello guys for the past couple of months ive noticed a slight humming in my transmission i have a 99 max sel
the humming occurs when i drive 40mph the trans shifts into over drive and rpm is little under 1500 it hummes and it feels like im losing power so i have to either gas it or shut off od for it to go away
does anyone have suggestion what i should look for or do.

some people are telling me to do a trans flush to clean the trans screen other say its not good idea cause i got 60,000 mile on it
help please.

Change your transmission fluid.

The full service flush would be your best choice.

Also, try going to a synthetic tranny fluid since your car is so new.

i had a guy tell me "a flush will wash the clutches out on vehicle with more than 50k+"....so I hear your concern....but its an old wives tale. a do it yourself flush is pretty easy too...search the forum and you'll find everything you need to know....you can even go synthetic and do it for $60. I saw a midas ad in our local paper this weekend for a $60 tranny flush...thats a pretty good price...its probably a national sale....but that price will not be synthetic fluid.

only way to clean/replace the screen is drop the pan.....a trans filter kit is only like $20.

search for "tran* flush" and you will get a bunch. disconnect the tranny line on the drivers side of the radiator.....put a 5/16 or 3/8 clear hose onto the radiator nipple....the rest is too much to type again.

even though the max has a screen, a parts list will still call it a "filter kit". I have a brand new fram filter kit on the shelf (don't flame me...it came with the car, i swear!) that i'd mail to you for $20. its just the pan gasket and screen/cover plate.

good luck
