auto tranny ?????

I am new here and just baught my first maxima a 95 SE with 107k on the clock from a origonal female owner. The car is showroom perfect inside and out the only thing is when I mash the gas it takes off fine but gets to redline it hangs there for a second then slips slowly into 2nd and then the same for 3rd I'm used to my Lightning wich shifts hard and my 4runner even shifts better. I have heard these cars have slow auto trannys but is this normal. This worries me cause a tranny that shift like that seems bound for catastophic fialure.

Just take it to a mechanic, and get it checked out...you could be losing your tranny... if you do need to rebuild or buy a new tranny let me know I have one I can sell you for cheep with less miles then your car even has..

Get back to me
Chris

I agree it doesn't sound like it batting 1000. My stock auto does a 1-2 shift pretty quick. It nothing like it is a full line pressure but still quite fast, the 2-3 is a little slower but still very acceptable.

MaxSpeedSE is right get it checked out thats not normal.

tranny swap?

if you have auto tranny, when it blows up, what a god given chance to save $$$ and put that 5 spd!

It costs cheaper to replace it with 5 spd tranny and clutch kit. and think of the enormous HP you'll be recovering

note: i drive auto myself and it's boring
