Tranny going bad?

Pulling out of a parking lot today, I chirped 2nd and it had so much power that it felt like my front right wheel hopped off the ground for a split second. It also sounded like the engine almost got ripped off its mounts. Shortly after that, my tranny wouldn't shift into 1st or 2nd! That's a baaaaaaaad thing when you're in the city getting stopped at every red light. I was burning my clutch like crazy all the way to 6000rpm in 3rd at every red light and moved slower than a turtle.

I took my car to the nearest mechanic and they said something was wrong with my transmission (NO CRAP, STUPID!) and that I had to take it into a tranny specialist. My car then magically fixed itself and gave me all my gears back, but there's still a whining noise, especially in 1st. It feels like I lost about 30 ft-lbs of torque and my shifts are now much smoother. But the tranny still makes that noise that sounds like it's about to fall apart any second.

Any ideas?

bump. It happened again today, but only for a few minutes. Seems like something might be jammed in there, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know of any shops that work on transmissions in Atlanta, preferably somewhere between GaTech and Jimmy Carter?

it is very possible that you raped your tranny.

it is also possible that your motor mounts have torn.

take it to a shop either way.
