Do civic drivers just not get it...speedometer off?
I'm cruising to my friends new house yesterday minding my own business, talking with my girl in the car. I take off about 1/4 throttle from a red light and with frankencar intake..some noise was present. In anycase, little did i know next to me at the light was a civic with the normal mods it so appeared. I have no reason to race the guy but he keeps pacing me going forward then coming back...so I simply am tired of this, I hate it when people drive beside me like that and speed up and down. So I give it a litte more gas in third to get ahead...oh boya apparently he figured this was a race and flew up next to me. He does this one more time, whips it in front of me and nearly rear ends the car ahead.
Now later on down the road there is a police radar mobile thats what I will call it. It just a huge display saying hey your going this fast my speedo registered 50...and it said 47, and several times in the past these things have registered three miles and hr slower than my speedometer. So is my car off or these things?? Can I recalibrate it somehow. THanks

If you have smaller diameter tires than OEM, that will do it.
If the radar unit wasn't calibrated, that would do it.
If you have aftermarket guages, that would do it.
The best way to verify your speedo is with a handheld/portable GPS.
The speedo on my 99SE is within a MPH or so up to 80.

Police radars usually underestimate your speed because they measure your car from an angle rather than straight on.
It gives them more legal ground to give you a ticket because if they clock you at a given speed, it means you most likely were going just a bit faster than that anyway.
