get a used hatch thats all crapped out with a killed tranny and blown engine for maybe 2gs or less, then spend 3 to 4 gs on a gsr engine and tranny. Now you have a fast car. 14s stock

Pinto w/ the iron block/head SVO turbo 4 cylinder. About 200 hp+ stock. Boost up to 21 psi and guess what? by-by to everyone of these other low buck suggestions.

old 80s Misubishi Starion turbo. Get one that runs good spend about $200 on a fuel pressure regulator, dial up the turbo's boost and you're at mid 12s for about two grand.--Hey, I didn't say the car would be pretty!

Re: magazines

Can you scan a timeslip? 11's on a stock suspension or driveline doesn't seem like a great idea. Are Honda drivetrains that durable? Reason I mention it is if you have mods to the drivetrain and suspesion to handle 11's, it's not getting that cheap anymore?

Isn't the fastest unibody hondas in the 10's?

Re: Re: not even

Let's clear this up. I'm currently looking at the cover of TURBO and right there it says the fastest unibody Honda in the world is the Jotech Civic running 9.681 @ 144.99 with 561 @ the wheels. Not that I give a dook about Honda's but just wanted to stop some of the feuding.

I'd say get an 86 Mustang GT and throw a few bolt on parts in the engine compartment and WHam you got a $3-4000 reliable performer with lots of torque.

By the way I have seen Hondas with 300+ hp running with the OEM clutch, tranny etc... who run 11-13 second 1/4 miles.

sorry to burst your bubble

i love my max, but i like hondas too, if you have a civic without a swap you have a slow pice of sh#t, but if you have a swap and fully build your new motor and throw on a turbo then you can have a fast *** car! im gonna paste a part of an article from this months import tuner;

You gotta admit, these are great days we are living in. Who would've thought, even a couple of years ago, that the explosion of the scene would now offer up all the dope *** cars we now see at the tracks and shows from coast to coast? Think about it: 7-second East Coast hybrids (Puerrrto Rrrriiicooo!), an 8-second Honda Civic and on the show side there are swaps, drops and props to make you drool at every turn. Yes sir, these are definitely great days...

so um yes there are 7 and 8 second civics, but to all the honda lovas sorry nissans still tear your sh#t up, theres 240s running 9s on stock chasis without swaping motors.

Actually there have been VW bugs in the 10's, 9's, and maybe 8's for 20 years now??

But technology has done alot for the 4 cylinder. There are sub 10 sec Supras that drive to the track and then drive home. Quite a feat huh?

With regards to the 7 second Honda, what the hay is a hybrid, that sounds like a fiberglass Honda body with maybe one O.E.M Honda part. Right? That's not a Hoonda. Just curious.

I agree...I have a friend (who is a mechanic) and he has taken a 92 sentra se r and totally rebuilt the engine. put pistons from a z and a whole lot of other stuff that I can't explain. It didn't cost him to much and he can run a high 14. I know this is not too much but this is also on stock tires, rims, suspension and with all the interior just as the day it rolled of the assembly line. This car still has a lot of potential. It would be a great find, and besides you keep it in the family.

That was a while ago. Lisa Kubo is the fastest now I think(correct me if I'm wrong) with a 9.2x run. That's for a unibody, tho.
But back on topic, if you could get Sean Glazar, Dave Buschur or someone like them to work on a 1st gen Eclipse/Talon/Laser, it could be pretty quick. We're talking 10-sec daily drivers here. A lot of the parts(throttle body, cyl head design, etc.) are better than the 2nd gens too.

Re: Re: Re: Re: not even

If you could those guys to work on your car it would no longer be cheap. And doesn't Buschur racing use a Starion RWD w/ 2.0 turbo Talon engine? FWD style engine installed into a RWD car. Again not cheap anymore.

YOU GUYS FORGETTING ABOUT OLD DOMESTIC CARS?

Besides all these little imports for cheap that run high 14's and 15's, why not look into stuff like '92-'93 Z28's and 5.0 Rustangs. Yes, they are ****ty and ragged out(haha) but their cheap and can haul some ***. (I have nothing against imports! I love them, I am a Maxima owner myself!) Later, Steve
