so i took my car to meineke today. they said 135 for install on both. the guy calls me up and says that my o2 sensor is running rich, and it will cost 185 to replace. is that too much, or what?

 

135 for a catbakc? Make sure and get a resonator put in there somwwhere because if you dont, you ;ll hate teh sound. 185 just for the o2 sensor, or totla including the 135 b? Yu can get an 02 sensor for 65 shipped and install it yourself.

 

how do they know your car is running rich? or did they just take a multimeter to the sensor and it wasn't in spec? tell them to give you the reading on the sensor and see for yourself.

When did you finally get your B-pipe?

The install cost is not outragous, but not particularly low. I would probably pay it if I was confident in their work. I had some places quote me more than that for a Y-pipe alone. (I paid less than $70 in the end).

 

Not many places would touch the Y-Pipe....Meieneke guy said he'd charge me $11,000

i finally got it done for $60...but now thats installed, in case i need to get a new one, I wont have to fuss about the legality issue of it, since i dont have the pre cats there anymore, and they really dont know about it...

Anyways, I think $185 is a little outrageaous for it, try searching around

 

I had the same type expierence with finding a shop to intall my Y-pipe. Only, the small private custom exhaut shops were not willing to do it. I ended up having to go to national chain to get it done. They were the last place I thought that would be willing to do it.

 

When I get my y-pipe my brother will put it in with no problem at his shop. But if anyone is having trouble finding a shop to put it on due to legality prolems, give my brother a call at his shop. He mostly works on dsm's at his shop but Maxima's are more than welcome he sais. Just tell him your brother Paul told me about you on the maxima org. I'm sure he will give you a good price for labor.

alright, now i am not a noob, but this is kinda a noob question. everyone says that the y-pipe vibrates into a bracket under the car and you can bend it out of place. Is this true? Mine vibrates sometimes, but not always. thanks
