heh

I'm in love with the is300, including its rims. I was looking to get the Moda R6's, they look almost the same and come in 17" too.

Moda R6's

Those are the exact ones I was looking at too, I guess we have good taste.

I figured the IS300 wheels would be the cheaper option though, and prob lighter, r6's are heavy I think

I think the IS rims would fit, but I don't know if they're 7 or 7.5 inches wide.

yeah that means the same as 5x114.3 which is the bolt pattern of the maxima and should fit but can't say they won't rub...

I believe they will not fit

I tried on a set of GS400 wheels one time. I found a few sets with tires for $500. The lug pattern fits well, but that's not the problem. On the brake rotor extending to the wheel studs is a wheel hub. They protect the wheel bearings and such. This hub is the cause for it to not fit. The hub is not a perfect cylinder. It is a few millimeters too large in diameter at the base. The IS300 wheel should fit about half way on. That's not enough to get 2 of the 5 lugs on. However, I figure you could bore out the center of each IS300 rim about 5mm in diameter and 2cm deep. I was thinking about doing this too with the GS400 wheels.

Whats up guys, the 17" GS400 wheel should fit onto your 4th gen. or newer Max's with no problem. I have a set of four for sale on this site.(Silver 17's with 235/45/ZR's at 3/4 tread life)) You may want to find/or use a center cap other than one that displays the Lexus emblem. They are in excellent condition, Ill take $450, leave a reply post with a way that you can be contacted. Thanks, Sneaky

Hey Sneaky, do those rims have any nicks or scratches on them? Have you ever hit a curb?

No curbs here. Very few nicks or scratches, I am very particular.(Im a Max owner myself) The rims are in excellent condition, I will guarantee any Max owner who buys these at $450 will feel they got a good deal.

Thanks, Sneakymax

Who has them on their maxima's now?

Before I tried on the set of GS400 wheels, I called tirerack.com to see if they'd fit. They told me that the center hub is too large of the maxima and it wouldn't fit. I tried it myself and it would not fit. Those who have them on the Max, did you alter the wheel or hub at all. I'm going to buy a set and bore out a centimeter of the wheels, center to make them fit.

Hi Kevin,
Mike(2 posts above) has them on his max. Charlie(another max owner here in Austin) also has them on his car. The rims look great on their cars. Yes, it does take some machining of the GS rim. Yes, ask Mike about it, he knows alot about what your trying to do. He's a great guy and I'm sure he'll try to help you out. Just in case he doesn't see this post again, I'll follow up and let him know about your inquiry.

Chris, a good friend of mine, has already sold his set to another max owner. If you go to http://www.clublexus.com, you'll be able to find a bunch of poeple selling them due to purchasing aftermarket rims on their GS400's. Try to bring them down though, some of the prices are a little steep.

Let me know if you need anything else.
Rob

offset is right... direct from the famous mike

"The center bore needs to be machined to match the Nissan hub, which is 66.1mm. This must be done perfectly, as the wheels are hubcentric. Other than that, you must find some lug nuts that have the Nissan thread pitch but the Lexus type shank and washer. I found them at Auto Zone."

I want to do this!

how much would it cost to get the GS wheels bored out so they would be ready to go on my max? And does /will anyone post some pics of what it looks like? Thanks!

When more of this is worked out, we'll post up some info for you...soon.

As far as pics, I don't have the ability to post the pics up here, but a friend might be able to. It'll also depend if we can get together with one of the max's that already have the rims on and take the pics. We'll see....

believe me, it does look really good.

Oh, by the way.....

To all Austin Maxima.org members, We are going to go to Seguin on the 12th (weather permitting) for some track (1/4 mile) running!!! All are welcome to come as well as others from the texas area(close enough to feel you can drive there on friday the 12th for the night). I would expect that there might be some from San Antonio and Houston. WHOMEVER...So far there are several interested in Austin...

I will post again about this meet.
