enkei wheels (read)

A friend of mine has a 99 alero coupe that the engine just went down in, and he is trying to get rid of all the stuff he had on it. he has a set of 17" enkei rs6's that he is wanting to sell me to put on my car- will they fit? Is 800 too much to spend on these wheels with 4 good tires???

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Yes, Rs6's will fit your max. I have them in 18's. Only thing is, I paid $800 for mine, and they weren't even a month old (I got the reciept to be sure). I wouldn't pay that much unless they were brand new. As I recall, Wheelmax.com had brand new 17's with tires for $799 in there special sale list. I don't know if they still have them, but if not i'm sure that if you do some searching on the net, you can easily find brand new ones for the same price. If you don't want to do that, I would get probably pay $650 for the wheels and tires. Oh and the wheels look larger than they are. I'm always getting getting that mine look like they are 19's. Good luck!

I checked, the Alero does not have the same bolt pattern as the Maxima. We have 5x114.3, Aleros use GM's larger 5x115. They may not fit properly.

Good point. I checked with Mille Miglia, the makers of my rims, and they 115 and 114.3 are the same (at least for MM-manufactured rims). Think about it- less than 1 MM off. Why not do ao test-fit? Jack both cars up, try the rim. Even easier- take one of his OEM rims to a tire place and have them fit-check it. If he does not have an OEM rim arount, just do the first option...

My rims were off of a GM car. The previous owner bought them @ tirerack. I called them, they pulled up his record and checked the fit. His 115 and my 114.3 called for the same part number.

Be careful- you may need new centering rings. My hubcentric rings were different than the ones for the GM vehicle that the rims came off of.

also, are the rs6's universal(meaning drilled for 5 x 100 and 5 x 114.3?)?.. it's a common setup on enkei rims

I tried them and they did seem to fit fine...but i am not an expert. It has nittos on the front, and nankangs on the back. i forgot what size-will go back tonight and check...the only prob i had was that i could not get his lug nuts to work...wrong threads, so i will have to buy lug nuts to try them-i thought he was a little pricey as well-i may wind up giving him full price, just because he is a friend and he will let me pay him off rather than needing the whole amount at one time...you guys tell me more about what you think...

Thanks so much

Mike

The size lug nuts you need are 12x1.25, his Alero uses 12x1.5

Couldn't he just re-use the stock lugs?

They will work, but your speedo will be off. 225/45/17 would be the best size on 17x7" rims.

Put them on today....

I went ahead and installed the enkei's today. They look good, but boy it should. I had to put them on today, which was earlier than i had intended. I had a flat this morning, and had to run the guy down, go get his factory wheels, and remove 3 sets of wheels and install 2 of them on two different cars. I am worn out, but it is well worth it. Will post pics as soon as possible.
