20th Anniversary Pedal install
20th Anniversary Pedal install
I got the 20th Anniversary pedals from Custommaxima.com for Christmas and I'm planning on installing them this weekend. However, when my girl ordered them for me, Greg said that they would fit a 99 but it would take a little modification. I just want to find out what kind of modification and if there is any supplies/equipment that I need.
I searched for “20th pedals” and “pedal install” but everything I found was inconclusive.
And for clarification, I have a 99 5-spd and the gas pedal assembly that they sent me has the whole rod attached to it. It looks like its freaking impossible to take the pedal off of the rod assembly and attach it to the current gas pedal assembly. I don’t need any help with the brake and clutch pedals (yet) since I was able to find some tips for installing them, just the gas. Thanks in advance.

I used the search term "anniversary edition pedals". However none of the threads that the search pulled up had any good directions to replace your current pedal assembly with the new AE pedals attached to the rod. I have some AE pedals coming to me also, so if you find any solutions. Let me know.
Iilac,
I might just go for it this weekend in a blind and ignorant manner. If I do, I'll let you know how it goes.
Pjalst,
I didn't even know they made such a thing. I'm guessing by the rolleyes that it's overly priced and not all that nice.

These are about the closest I could find to installation directions for the pedals: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....=install+pedal

Project 1/2 done.
I did it (the gas pedal) this weekend and it wasn't that bad. I haven't done the brake and clutch pedals because its too cold right now and they would be too rigid and stiff to work with. I was mainly concerned with the gas pedal but it wasn't a problem. Here are my instructions for the gas pedal.
My gas pedal came with an arm. The throttle cable is attached to the stock arm at the top of it and I couldn't get it loose. So I took the AE pedal off of the arm that it came on. I then got a 10mm deep-well socket and removed the 2 nuts that secure it to the firewall. This allows you to turn the pedal over and have very easy acess to the back of the pedal. Remove the plastic clip that holds on the stock pedal and then remove the pedal. Wrap 3-4 layers of tape around the bottom of the rod after the final bend to ake up for the difference in thickness. Put on the AE pedal and the clip that came with it. Bolt the arm back to the firewall.

But I could be wrong...

In fact, I liked the AE brake pedal a lot better than the stock I had before. But I guess that could just be because the old ones were worn.
Got a couple of compliments on the cross-drilled gas pedal too. And a couple of "rice" comments.

Did your accelerator come with a rubber backing so you can't see through the holes or is it just the metal part of the pedal? All of my other AE pedals included the rubber backing except the gas pedal.

I am pretty sure that the manual and automatic have the same gas pedal so did your gas pedal came with the rubber backing or you can see straight through the pedal?

here's an .org member that put the 350z dead pedal on his 5th gen - apparently you have to cut off the backing block
