Ignition Coil Question...

Yes, I've done the search and read most all the threads on ignition coils, but I still have one question...

Does it matter WHICH ones I get (Mitsubishi or the Hanshin) or do I have to match whats already in my car???

Also, whats a good source for these? Dealer wants $75, NissanParts.cc has the Hanshins for $55 + $8 shipping. Haven't bought these before and want to make sure I do it right the first time.

Thanks for the help...

(And screw the a$$hole that keyed my car the other day - sorry had to vent

My car came with Mitsubishi coils stock. When one broke, I had to use a Hanshin coil cause thats all the local dealer had in stock. Worked fine though. They're pretty much interchangeable.

Just make sure you specify front or rear. That's where the real difference in coils is.

here's what you do...

-- find the date of manufacture of your car (drivers door pillar, or passenger side of the firewall).

-- get your VIN

-- call Nissan dealership, and tell them the date of manufacture, and they'll tell you which ones yyou need...

They are interchangeable. I think it's the Mitsu coils that are more reliable.

The V6 in the Maxima is transversely mounted, so think of it as a RWD V6 engine turned to the right. In that case, the left would be the "rear" and the right would be the "front."

Actually, according to the dealer I got mine from, it's the opposite. The Hanshin coils were the replacement for the Mitsubishi OEM part.

I don't think it matters at this point though - I think the coil-packs that are currently being produced by Mitsubishi no longer have the quality issues that were present in the OEM coils on our cars.

The problem was resolved in either design or manufacturing.

Hanshin & Mitsubishi coils are interchangeable.
