doing an engine swap......

The original engine on my car went screwy on me, so my dad found on awesome deal.

'98 maxima engine 44,000 km for $1500 installed.

I got a question tho, what can be done to the max engine to increase hp/tq. im curious since the engine is alot easier to work on when its out of the car. and the mechanics and myself can take advantage of this engine swap.

thanx
ciao

Port & polish and/or high compression pistons if you have the loot.

I suggest you leave the engine as it is, unless you have definite plans for going turbo or SC. But if you can afford engine work and know a proficient mechanic, then go for it.

different strokes for different folks:

boosted:
-port and polish
-custom dished pistons
-thicker gasket

all motor:
-port and polish
-domed pistons
-thinner gasket
-JWT cams

most of the stuff will be done custom, so expect to shell out $$

I agree, with the exception of the absence of the JWT cams on the boosted list. They will, err..I mean should, offer a significant gain either way.

If you don't have a couple grand lying around, just pop the motor in and be happy.
