reset ecu

Could someone please tell me the best way to reset the ecu without taking it to the dealer. Would unhooking the battery overnight work?

The ECU is sitting under the radio and heater in the dashboard. You access it by pulling off the panel located right by the accelerator pedal. The ECU is covered by a plastic panel that is held in by 2 plastic thingys

You just pull the plastic panel off. The plastic thingys just pop off. Use these direction to reset it;
