Remote
Remote
Hey All
I did a search about programming a remote that i bought of ebay. I am scheduled to get it within a couple days. I check my car to see if i can clear the previous codes etc.. this is what I found.
When i lock the doors and insert the key about 6 times, my hazards dont flash, but I have this little red light next to my dash light dimmer, and it flashes. I does not flash normally. It only flashes when i did the whole key in key out thing 6 times.
does this mean I will be able to use the remote when i eventually get and progam it?

You do not clear the codes for the new remote, you program the remote with new codes. You have to wait to receive the remote before you do this:
Q: How do I reprogram the Keyless Remote?
A: Here's the procedure from the 1995 Factory Shop Manual
Replacing Remote Controller or Multi-Remote Control Unit (LCU05)
Enter the identity (ID) code manually when:
remote controller or multi-remote control unit LCU05 is replaced.
an additional remote controller is activated.
ID Code Entry Procedure
To enter the ID code, follow this procedure.
Entering "Setting mode":
(1) Close and lock all doors.
(2) Insert and remove the key from the ignition more than six times within 10 seconds. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice.) At this time, the original ID codes are eliminated.
ID code entry:
(3) Turn ignition key to "ACC" position.
(4) Push lock button on the new remote controller once (for example, if door is locked using the remote controller during this ID code entry enable state, a new ID code can be entered). At this time, the new ID code is entered. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice.)
Additional ID code entry
(5) If you need to activate additional remote controllers, unlock the driver's door, then lock again with door lock ****.
(6) Push lock button on the additional new remote controller once.
(7) This ID code entry enable state and setting mode remain until the driver's door is opened.
NOTE
If you need to activate more than two additional new remote controllers, repeat the procedure "Additional ID code entry" for each new remote controller.
If the same ID code that exists in the memory is input, the hazard warning lamps will flash twice but the entry will be ignored.
Entry of maximum four ID codes is allowed and any attempt to enter more will be ignored.
Any ID codes entered after termination of the "setting mode" will not be accepted. Additionally remote control signals will be inhibited when an ID code has not been entered during the "setting" mode.

Are you sure your car is equiped with the stock security system? Normally the security light (the red one that flashes briefly) always blinks when the car is locked and the engine is off. . . Do you have any remotes that already work or did already work? If so, then try reentering the key into the ignition. . . Just do it really quickly and do it until the lights flash. . . Then make sure that the doors are locked and the key is in the ACC position before trying to program it. . . Most people forget to put it in the ACC position.
I have the red security light flash when the car is off and the doors are locked. Although I just red somewhere that I need to have intermittent wipers and some other stuff to have the security package or something. I dont have intermittent wipers.
The only thing that happens when i do the whole key in key out thing is i have a little red next to my dash dimmer and that starts to blink alot when i do it. but no hazzards. I think this is a lost cause. The guy at nissan told me that I definitly should have the package, but i have tried since saturday, and nothing. Is it possible that I do not have the package on a 1999 Maxima SE automatic?
here is what I do have
foglights
auto
cloth seats
power windows
power locks
power steering
power mirrors
manual seat control
but like i said i read you need the comfort package to have the keyless option. ie.. leather, power seats, intermittent wipers etc..
is this true?

just thought of something. would there be a fuse for the keyless entry? if there is a fuse i could look for it and see if anything is labeled keyless or what not... and if there is a fuse in that socket that means i have it right? second opinions?
does anyone know where i can find the keyless entry module in my car if i do indeed have it. nissan says i have to have it. i dont get it... where would the module/receiver be located. that is the only way i can be certain.
