CAI...dangling sensor???
CAI...dangling sensor???
I got done intalling my PR CAI the other day and I noticed I had a sensor hanging there and I didnt know where it went. its actually not a sensor, it's a plug thats not plugged into anything. Looks just like the one that plugs into the MAF sensor, and it hangs right next to the MAF. Is this supposed to be hanging there? Could this be why my CEL is on? Anyone else have the CEL come on after the install of the CAI?
It supposed to plug in on the bottom of the pipe which is near the MAF. Look around and you'll see it.
I went outside and looked for where this plug is supposed to plug in and found nothing. The bottom of the pipe, as the CAI pipe? there is nowhere to plug this thing in!!! can you be more specific?

1. it may be the resistor for the tranny.
2. It could be the temp sensor for your intake.
Either way it is not detrimental for it to be hanging. You may want to take a pic and post it, so we can help.
BTW, the CEL came on because you disconnected the MAF. Pull the codes from the ecu. If it only refers to the MAF, reset and enjoy. If not, decipher the code and fix.
On the PR CAI upper pipe, there should be two large tubes, one small one, and a hole. The hole is on the underside and is for the temp sensor. If you have this hole there and nothing in it, you will have some "unmonitored" airflow which will cause the engine to run less than optimally, in addition to not making the temperature compensation.
I had no CEL come on after my install, but I also made sure all sensors were in their correct places and plugged in before starting the car. If you can't find that hole on the CAI, take the upper pipe off your car so you can thoroughly inspect it. It should be there, if it isn't, then you need to send it back to PR and get a new one from them. When installing the temp sensor, you need to use the stock grommet that is on the stock intake system. Its not a perfect fit, but it works fine.
