Sprint 2'' springs GC coilovers

hi...i want to lower my ride for an inexpensive price, without sacrificing quaility...i noticed that 1995-1999 Nissan Maxima Sprint 2.00" Lowering Coils are only $149.99..would these combines with some nice struts/shocks be the way to go...? or would ground control coilovers (374.99) be a better choice?

Sprint springs are to low, there isn't any suspension travel left thats why the ride is bumpy. You've got to remove most of your bump stops to regain some needed travel.

Then which combo will give nice drop on a 5speed all around and have enough travel?

Even the stock springs on the Maxima don't really have enough travel (esp the rears), so any lowering springs make the situation even worse. That having been said, I have H&Rs and the mild drop (~1.4") still allows the car to retain some ride comfort while improving handling. I cut my bump stops ~1" as recommended by H&R also.

What would be the best combination for around $500-600? Should be pretty good performance and good ride, and be able to lower a good amount. Performance/Comfort % = 40/60

At that range you might as well save a little more and get Jic's.

If you think sprints are bad try Eibach. Then we will see whats bad.

I wouldnt put the GC up with the Tokicos...the stuts will blow within a year, match them up with some AGX's and your set

I have sprints and love them. I would like to be a tad lower but its good that I dont scrape everywhere I go...Sprints are a good compromise from height to ride quality, they only get bad if the road is bad, Like Any Other LOWERING Spring

I have Ground Control Coilovers and the ride is pretty bumpy...if you put front and back down all the way its REALLY bumpy because of the rear axle our cars have. Since the back looked lower than the front, i raised the back up almost an inch and the ride is a little smoother now, though still a little bumpy. I also took my "mud-flaps" off because they kept scrubbing on speed bumps. Hope this helped!

As far as the tokico struts, i dont know because i still have stock struts. The setup I got can be used with stock or tokico struts (and some other brand but I can't remember the name), so if you change your mind and want to run tokico struts instead of stock then you dont have to worry about which setup you have. I got my GC's from Nopi at Nopi Nationals in Atlanta last year.

If ur not a hardcore racer but looking for lowest setting and the most comforatable ride with that setting look no further but SPRINT/KYB AGX. Sprints are not performance oriented but very comfortable.

Eibachs are great handeling springs and very low as well but they have SAGGY ***. They are also very harsh. If you have kidney stones look no further these will help you get rid of them.

My next maxima Im going back to sprints. I love them. BUT BEWARE they are not great handeling springs. They worked fine on the freeway doing 130 so no compaints here.

I had both Ground Control Coilovers and Sprint Springs, and I hated them both.

I only was on GC Coilovers for 2 weeks before I got sick of them and switched them out for Sprints. They were too bouncy, and noisy. I couldn't pinpoint the noise, and the bounciness (even on smooth roads) was driving me insane. I had them with the KYB AGX shocks.

Although the Sprints were a HUGE improvement over the GC Coilovers, I really didn't like them. The handling was amazing, and the drop looked amazing, but the ride was pretty harsh. Small bumps weren't too bad, but big bumps were the problem. I even had my top strut mount fail on the driver side because I hit a bump and there was no suspension travel left, so it broke because of the strain.

I personally feel that a 2"+ drop is too much for Maxima. There is not enough suspension travel for bumps and you constantly bottom out. But if you really want the 2" drop, then the Sprint Springs are the best of the two.

I'm going to be lowering my car for the 3rd time this Spring (I'm currently on stock springs), and I'm going for H&Rs this time. They give your car a nice ~1.5" drop, and the ride is like stock, but it handles much better.

Edit: I also had the Sprints teamed up with the AGX. Forgot to mention that.

Later,
-Nick

This is why there are many options for the maxima. Different people of different age like different things.

Me I cant wait to put the sprints on this saturday.
