yup. fast as hell. i dont know. i like the exterior better than 4th gen, the engine better than 4th gen, but for some reason I think I still like my car better.
Someone needs to explain this to me...

Mustang Cobra and CL-S wanted to "PLAY" on the way home. Clutch break in sucks. BTW Mustang (older body style) didnt impress me at ALL. He tried to dust me, but if I was revving it out, which i wasnt, im sure i coulda kept up. I think he couldnt drive, he missed 3rd pretty bad.

Car&Driver and Motor Trend both this month tested the 04 - both had 1/4 mile times slower than the 03 max.

You were imagining things....or you've just never driven an 03, I suppose.

Yea I read that article on the 04 Max in Car and Driver. It does the 1/4 in 15 flat and 0-60 in low sixes. I was very dissapointed when I read this. They gave it 10more hp for a total of 265hp and 255 lb ft but it's slower!?! Oh it does weigh 3,550 pounds. That's most likely the only reason it's slower. I also HATE how it looks. Nissan made it look like the Altima!! That sux. Should'nt they make the Altima look like the Maxima since the Max has always been better in everything. I just don't get it.

Been driving both the 2k3 and '95 lately (getting the '95 fixed up to sell ), and it's fun to compare the two. The '95 feels more nimble (not sure it actually is, since I have an RSB and FSTB on the 2k3), smaller and quicker. But boy, the 2k3 is all engine - the difference in torque down low is huge, and the HP diff is still noticeable at highway speeds. Both cool cars, and it's fun to drive the '95 and think "wow, it'll STILL beat most of the cars on the road".

Wish my freakin' 2k3 could turn around in less than a football field; the turning radius is about the same as a bus

I agree the turning radius is horrible but I do love my 03 and loved my old 97. The power of the 03 just makes me smile(as well as my wifes 350Z) all the time unlike the 97 unless I gave it alot of gas and I agree my 97 did feel and was more nimble than the 03. Whats odd is that I get more compliments on my 03 than I ever did in my 97.

Last weekend I got to compare my modified 96 SE (UDP, MEVI, revised stock airbox, 2k1 muffler, y-pipe) to VQman's stock 2003 6 speed HLSD. Granted it was his first time at the track and it was hot out, but his 03 ran a 14.99@94mph and mine ran a 14.87@94mph. His 60 foots were .2 of second off mine which will account for some of the ET, but the MPH will pretty stay the same even if his 60 foots improve. He got 94mph and I got 94mph. In my eyes, the 3.5 VQs biggest advantage is it's ability to overcome a bog off the line. The 4th gen is significantly slower off the line if you bog it. It took me a crap load of mods to get me where I'm at, but at least I'm neck and neck with the 3.5VQs. There's also a G35 sedan in our group that I consistently outrun at the track too (his best that date was 15.0). I've got a JWT ECU on the way which will allow me to take full advantage of the MEVI. I can't wait to walk away from these 3.5 VQs.

I did sit in the 6 speed and it's much nicer than I remember the 5th gens being. It's a black SE with black leather. I wish my 4th gen had all the aminities (sp) of the 5th gen.

I guess you don't understand that the track you're racing on and the conditions you're racing in do affect the way a car runs. 02+ Maximas don't run mid to low 14s at every track in the nation. The same goes for LS1 F-Bodies. They don't run low 13s everywhere. I guarentee you would not come close to pulling a 15.0 stock on my track. I'm certain of it. Stock 99+ Mustang GTs struggle to get 14.6s here.
