MEVI installation questions...
First let me list my assumptions so somebody can correct me if I'm wrong:
1. I have the intake installed at this point, but I DON'T have anything to activate the VI installed as of yet. It is my assumption that my car should run normally at this point. Is this correct?
2. When the VI is activated, I am assuming that means the actuator mounted on the VI sucks in and opens the butterfly valves. Is this correct?
Problems I am having (assuming 1 and 2 above are correct):
A. With the VI installed and NOT activated, the car starts fine, idles high for a few seconds and then trys to step down the idle. The engine dies when it steps down.
I'm thinking vacuum leak. I'm ordering new gaskets for the EGR valve, IAC and throttle body today.
B. If I keep my foot on the gas, the car continues to run and drive fine. As soon as I step on the gas (WOT) the car continues to run, but I have ZERO power. Very little acceleration. Again, I'm thinking vaccum leak.
C. When testing out the vaccum solenoid and napa cannister system, the solenoid (when turned on) activates the VI (sucks the actuator all the way in). When power is removed from the solenoid, the VI actuator stays sucked all the way in and will not release unless I unhook the vaccum line. Shouldn't the actuator release when power is removed from the solenoid?
Any input would be appreciated.

sorry I do not know the answer to most of your questions, but in my opinion it sounds more like you have something left off such as the IAC hose running to your intake/maf area... i used my original seals when installed MEVI and have perfect vacuum, and even if you have a slight vacuum leak it shouldnt remove all your power, etc.. check all your hoses and electrical connectors, good luck

2) Yep
A) Sounds like a vacuum leak. Get a vacuum guage. It should be a steady vacuum ranging between 16-22hg. Mine was 21hg.
B) Vacuum leak
C) You've got your vacuum lines incorrectly setup. The tank's internal check-valve should keep the canister pressurized at all times. It's the MAP sensor which regulates the whether or not the vacuum is being applied or released. The sensor is simply a powered check valve. When power is applied it closes off to the atmosphere and allows the vacuum of the canister to be applied to the actuator. When it's off or closes, it vents to the atmosphere. When set up correctly, the VI should open when 12V power is applied and when power is turned off, it should close. I hope this makes sense.
