Hardwire install for Valentine One radar detector

Hardwire install for Valentine One radar detector
Just got my v1 radar detector and concealed display kit and was wondering if anyone out there has a write up of where they tapped into a switched 12v power line to power the radar detector.
I read Zumble's post on his hardwire install of his Passport 8500 and was wondering if anyone else used another power line instead of tapping into the heated seats.
Let me know.
Thanks.

I tapped the cig lighter for mine. I then ran the long phone cord wire under the dash to the left side of the car. Then I took the wire and ran it up to the bottom left of the windshield and tucked it between the glass and the interior panels. If you push the wire between panels you should not be able to see any of the wire. It fits perfectly all the way up to the rearview mirror where it comes down a couple inches to the V1. This is the only place the wire is visible. There is just enough wire to do this too.

I just placed my V1 in the bottom left center of my windshield, and used the adapater it came with . . it doesnt look sloppy, and infact, looks pretty decent. I'll try to take pics when I get a chance.

I tapped my V1 into the dome light with the straight wiring, so now it sits underneath the rearview mirror. The only problem there is that it doesn't shut off when the car is off unless you turn off the radar itself. I like it at least, none of that big coil running across your dash.

Compared to my $100 Cobra 10 band radar/laser detector. Yes, it has MUCH MORE range, it tells you so much more about the signal its recieveing (where, strength, what signal), and nothing feels better than slowing down from 95 - 55 only to pass a cop having the V1 screaming at you, and the arrows following the cop as you pass him. It saved me many times on Route 17, 208, and the NY thruway.
Remember, its not a cop detector, its a radar detector, so its bound to pick up some extra stuff (such as automatic door openers and what not). . . but I cant imagine taking a highway drive without my V1.

Wanna give a shoutout to Zumble for the help in the install. Remote is nicely tucked away and we tapped into the power mirror controls. I'll put up pics soon.
Took the V1 on a test drive up to Windham Mt. and oh man ... caught all those troopers hiding in the bushes ... *tsk* *tsk*
Thanks for all the help Zumble ...
