hey guys,
I would like to clean the throttle body on my max this weekend. I am no maechanic, but from what i hear its quite easy to do. Does anyboy have a link to some instructions, maybe with detailed pictures to teach me how to do this? Does it require taking apart may things and many steps to putting it back together? I dont want to start somethign I can t finsih. .Also, what are the materials needed. This is my first car that I actaully care about so I want to get as much performace out of it. By the way, the car has 36k miles on it, shoudl i even be considering cleaning the throttle body? Thanks for all your help!

doesn't matter how many miles you have, it's pretty easy, just take off the intake and spray with the straw that you will attach to the button on the can and spray on the gold attachment in the throttle and lift it up and spray inside all around.
Use about half the can since you have such little miles on her and hold the throttle open for a whle and let everything dry for about 10 to 15 mins and then attach the intake and start up.
You will notice a sluggish start but that's ok just give her a little gas and let her idle untill warm and then shut her off and start her up again and your good to go.
Should take about 1/2 an hour just because you have to wait to let it dry.

P.S. if you can get the valvoline throttle body cleaner, it's what i use =O) valvoline is the best at everything....

Per owners manaul,do not use carb cleaner or fuel additives. The interior parts of throttle body have a special coating to prevent build up of gunk. Cleaners are corrosive, and will ruin coating.Originally posted by MaxEffect414

At such low mileage (36K), you should not have any buildup on interior or throttle body. If you do, you have something else wrong.

They also say don't use anything but nissan parts and nissan oil and come to the stealership for everything to do with your car and no Intakes and don't change the exhaust system and a bunch of other crap.
I took apart the intake manifold and that thing they call a protective coating comes off after 50,000 miles and it's a polish coating which DOES accumulate after a while.
Your should use the cleaner after 50,000 though but if you want to use it now, then that's fine.

wd-40. just keep it off the sensors. carb cleaners are just a fancy name for a degreaser 
ps. you should actually wipe off any moisture in the tb after you are done. why anyone would like to have 'additives' in their intake has me. and your car should not start hard after a tb clean.
