EEREY noise coming from steering...

when car is cold or like just started, if i turn the steering wheel, it makes this nasty eeeeeerrrrrr or screech type sound. the steering wheel isnt stiffer and it doesnt make sound when car is like fully warmed up, nor does it make sound when i'm moving at a descent speed, but it does when i'm at idle and when car is cold. does anyone know what this could be? i'm thinking maybe i'm low on steering wheel fluid or something but i dont even know where that is

one time i added Redline MT-90 to my Power steering reservoir, because it was getting low, and i thought the reservoir was connected to the transmission. steering seems fine so far

Loose or worn belt.

Just look in your owners manual for the recommended fluid types.

you think my belt is loose or worn?

well today i took a trip down to nissan to get my steering fluid straight from them. It cost me 4.16 and i saw my line of fluid and it was way below the line it was supposed to be in. But i dont think it should have still made taht noise since there was fluid in there. well, the car was well warmed up when i bought it and i didnt hear any noises so so far so good but i have to obviously test it out when my car is cold.

if it is a loose or worn belt mzmtg, how do u recommend fixing this?

I think you are describing the problem I had ever since I had my alternator replaced. The mechanic left my steering pump belt too loose. I took it to the dealership to have it adjusted and it's all set now.
