Solution to my front suspension creaking
Solution to my front suspension creaking
It's been about a year and a half since I lowered my car. About 2 months ago my right front suspension has been creaking like crazy. I already have the custom spring sleeves on.
Today I took off the spring/strut assembly. I compressed the spring and tried to turn the piston nut, but the piston turned with it. What happened was the strut mount was completely destroyed. The rubber piece that was suppose to be joined with the metal strut mount has separated. This was making all the damn creaking when I hit bumps. This was also the reason my car couldn't be aligned correctly. I am not sure how I'm going to take the nut off yet. Hopefully I find a way to hold the piston while taking off the nut without scratching it.
I am either going to buy new stock strut mounts or kyb strut mounts. I am going to change out the mounts this weekend. If anyone want pictures just email me and I'll have them for you this weekend.

Use OEM mounts only! There not very expensive at all. You can buy just the inner piece, the one with the rubber on it for about 20/25 bucks.
You can use KYB dust boots and bump stops.

Not sure if this also adds to your problem, but I originally used the split wire wrap and I it worked for a few weeks but then the springs began to make noise.
I switched to the OEM isolation sleeves. They are much thicker and I haven't had any noise since.
