How much is my car worth?
I'm thinking about selling my car and getting a 5-speed so I can do some performance modding on it. What do you think my car is worth right now if i were to sell it modded? It has 130k miles on it and running strong..
Pics on my homepage..
Thanks.

Also, I want to figure in all my mods-

mods will increase your third-party value, but will decrease your trade-in value. third party wise, you can market the car to a younger person, saying that you've already hooked up the car, so they don't have to, but dealers will tell you that they have to restore the car to it's original condition before selling, which technically is true. If they sell a modded car, they assume responsibility that the mods are street-legal, and will not hurt the car, or cause problems.

mods add absolutely nothing to the value of a car. If anything it tells the respective buyer that the car has been "hot rodded" and may scar people off. Your target customer would be a naive kid with more money than sence.

it all depends are u selling the mods with or without the car...i would recommend u sell the parts prior to selling your car...and if your car is back to stock and SE as it appeals to be...i'm guessing $4500-5000

Sorry Dude, most 'regular people' looking at your car arent interested and dont want to pay extra for the tv's and mods when they buy a used car. they usually are interested in a reliable, dependable clean looking vehicle. like said before, mods can actually make people not interested in your car QUICK. and unfortunately the kid whos drooling for the car as you have it will most likely not have the $$ to buy it. theyll try to get you to do the old 'payment plan' to get it. too bad we all cant get what we 'think 'our cars are worth because we put more into them then just $$.BTW Nice max!Good luck.

What all of you are saying is pretty true. I thought the exact same thing a while back when I wanted to sell it, but for some reason I didn't think of that.. and just wanted to get rid of it and start over..
Well, once I strip it clean. how muc you think it'd be worth?

your car stock wit that mileage, i would say should go for about 5000-5500.
Wit the rims, the t.v., radio, dreamcast , subs, and minor custom trunk, i would say you can add a good thousand to the car. Honestly i wouldnt pay more than 6500 for that car with the mods.
I figure it like this:
to get a good deal, u:
value the car + full price of mods and knock off 1,000 to maximum 1500 and thats a GREAT price for the car. 6500 sounds right.

the infamous mods question.. well mods often aren't woth anything and mostly hurt the value unless you sell to friends who want them along with the car. Think of mods as an incentive to the buyer to buy your car, not as a value raiser. Funny thing is most people would go for a car with shiny new tires than one with cool 18s and torn out tires. Its simply because the people who buy for the mods buy hondas, and those who buy max are the same demography as those who buy camrys
my .02 5400-5800$ start from 6000 and go down if you need.
PS. take out the TV and dreamcast and perhaps the rims. I would keep them. I would def keep the TV unless you want a bigger one in the new car.
