car breaks around corners

every time i take a corner going a little fast my tires dont hold well, and i get some body roll. its pretty annoying, because i dont feel safe taking a corner at a relitively quick speed. sometimes it feels like my back is going to slip out, but i usualy recover before that. my question is.... does this mean that i need new tires and mine must just s*ck, or will me getting a rear-sway bar and front strut bar cure this problem.??
thanks, don

Have you lowered your car? on wut kinda setup? aftermarket performance springs/shocks or performance springs/stock shocks? Is your car riding pretty bumpy and hard? It could mean that your shocks are going out or blown. I've noticed that when you take yo car to a shop to install your springs/shocks, a lot of shops will jack your new bump stops and bushings that came with the shocks, and either put the old ones on or dont even put in any. This will shorten the lifespan of your shocks down the road, and your car is going to ride hard regardless of the shocks' performance.

Have your shocks checked by someone you can trust, or even better check it yoself if you are familiar with this kinda job.

PS. FSTB and RSB will stiffen up your chassis even further, these parts will improve handling and cornering, but if your shocks arent good or blown, they wont make much difference.

RSB will increase the chances of your tail stepping out of line at the limit... it's not as severe as people say it is though. It's happened to me all of once in the time I've had mine on over a year) and I was going over a large bump in a pretty sharp turn at almost 30mph... in the rain. If you know what to do in a FWD car when that happens don't worry about it - the thing to do is steer as you would with RWD but mash the gas pedal, the front tires should pull you out of it.

no, i have a stock suspension. its just that my car feels unstable around turns and seems like my tires are breaking loose, and i plan on getting a FSTB and RSB, but if my tires are causing this i need to know if i should save for them as well.

Wut type of tires are you currently running? Try Toyo Proxes or Bridge Stone Potenza. I'm running Toyo's AA-rating, very good grip and hell do these tires last long!

But I dont think it's your tires causing the problem. Anyhow, you can still have your stock shocks checked, maybe they are not good anymore. Another note is that carrying heavy things inside your car and they are not in the positions which could balance out the weight, could cause this too. Do you have aftermarket sound system? have any sub/boomboxes/amps?

Oh and, I forgot to ask you, how fast are you going around a corner? If you are going over 25mph then I dont think you need to complain about anything, given that yo car is still at its stock heigh wit stock suspension setup, and stock wheels/tires I suppose. Maxima actually outhandles all cars in its class. So IF, if you do drive fast even around corners and turns, then I guess the stock setup can no longer compensate your driving style/habits, so a lil' suspension upgrade maybe your way to go.

mine does that... its actually supposed to, given the size of the car. drop it and feel the joy. i can't cause of potholes

ps. my rear has never slipped completely. i actually get understeer which is way worse. Perhaps cause i have those horrible goodyears in the front still.

Front and rear bars will reduce understeer tremendously. And those goodyears can't be helping!

stock maxima handling sucks. theres nothing to be surprised about. it outhandles every car in its class? hahahhahahaha

lower it, and you'll have much better handling, at the expense of losing the smooth stock ride quality.
