Fog lights

I read a thread here that that the lenses on 97-99 max's are plastic while the 95-96 are glass. Now, I tapped on my 99 SE-L's fog lights and then on the headlights. There was no comparison between the feel. My foglights sure seem like glass to me, the lenses up top are much thinner i.e. plastic. Whats going on here? Is it just really thick plastic on the bottom? Somebody tell me what the deal is, who has expereince and has handled the lenses on their 97-99 SE-L? The reason why i ask is because the thread stated taht as long as you have the glass lenses, you can run an 85 watt bulb. need help!

i believe that the lenses are glass on my 99 SE. if you are wanting to run higher watage bulbs, then you should probly see about upgrading your wiring harness. i upgraded mine myself, and now run 110 watt bulbs with no problem

they are glass..I was thinking plastic too until one of mine got smashed by a stray rock.

slizan99..where did you get harnesses for your fogs that handle 100+ watts?

i designed and built them myself it's fairly straight foward if you have the right tools (i.e. soldering gun, connectors, crimpers, etc...) i am an electrician so i kinda have a leg up as far as the tools go.

Headlight lenses:

95 through 96 are glass, but the insides of them turn yellow.

97 though 99 lenses are plastic and can be polished to stay clear.
The insides do not turn yellow, they stay bright silver and reflect light much better.

Fog light lenses:

All years - Glass

i don't think you'll have a problem, but it's up to you whether or not to take that chance... i have a 1995 subaru legacy that uses the same fog light bulbs as our maximas, and i've been running 110 watt bulbs on the factory wire harness for 2+ years with no problem. i also ran the 110 watt bulbs on the max for a few months with no problems. the only reason that i upgraded the harness was that i had a saturday with nothing to do
