Apexi power intake impressions

Installed my Apex-i filter from Frankencar yesterday. I have gotten a chance to do some spirited driving so I thought I would let you guys know what I thought.

My previous set up was a custom mid-pipe with a cheapo fliter I got from a local rice shop. I can't remember the brand of the filter, but it basically looked like a K&N except for the top was just a meatal screen where air could enter. That set up had no kinda of "velocity stack" or anything to smooth out the air flow.

The sound with the apex-i is quiter, deeper and much more refined. Not near the scream the prvious filter made. I personally like the sound a lot better.

My power seems a lot more smooth accross the RPM range. I don't feel so many small peaks and valleys in the power at WOT. It is just a better all around feeling when accelerating.

I know I gained a little power, but I am not going claim any #'s. There is a definate difference.

I think the difference is due to reduction in air turbulance. The design of the apexi is sweet, it is easy to see how the generic filters can't compete.

I would recomend this product specifically, but I believe that the imortant thing is to get an intake with some sort of "velocity stack" or air turbulance reducer.

The price is a little much for just a filter, but I am not disapointed.
