Hot air isn't particularly good for performance, but in the HAI setup, you are able to get more unrestricted airflow, which is good. When you start moving at any reasonable speed, the intake starts taking in colder air, so its not much of a factor then. The only hinderance you'll see when compared to a CAI is from a stop, the CAI will be able to pull fresh cold air, while the HAI has to suck the heated air under the hood. Go ahead and get it, you'll be happy with it.

Yeah, I basicly have an HAI setup right now. I bought the Place Racing CAI, but only installed the upper pipe, I'll put on the Cold Air pipe when it starts getting warmer. My car runs fine. The intake does more to make the engine sound better than it does to improve the horsepower. You'll get more performance out of a y-pipe if you don't already have one. The intakes are pretty easy to install too. You can do it in about 30 mins, and at most an hour if you need to follow detailed instructions. The CAI takes longer to install though because it requires cutting some metal and temporarily relocating some fuse and relay boxes.

I like the sound of mine. Didn't have the car long enough before I put on my intake to notice a difference in performance.
