Need help finding ignition pulse wire

Does anyone know if the Maxima has a diagnostic timing lead somewhere that sends a 12v pulse for each engine revolution? I was hoping someone with a FSM might be able to find something for me, please. I have a '99 btw.

Re: Need help finding ignition pulse wire

I have a 95 and FSM for that year. The wire you are looking for
ia a short loop of wire that sticks out of the main engine wire
harness were it makes a 90deg turn at the front right corner
of the engine.

Do you know what color the wire is? Not sure exactly where you're talking about without looking at the engine. I'm sure I'll see when I take a look though.

The pluse from the ECU to the ignition coils won't be 12V. I don't think any of the ECU's outputs are 12V. There are three wires going into each ignition coil. Red, black and X color with stripe. Red is ignition +12V, Black is ground and X color with stripe is the pluse signal from the ECU.

It's a wire that has a black sheath over it, about 1/8" dia.
sticking out in a loop of about 1.5" dia.
The harness is just below hood level at the outer edge of the
engine at the front right corner.

To 1MAX2NV's point, is this wire 12 volt pulses?

I was hoping there was a diagnostic wire that did this.

The red wire doesn't not pluse. The x color wire with stripe on it will pluse.

The red wire doesn't not pluse. The x color wire with stripe on it will pluse. When dynoing a car, that's the wire we used. So whatever diagnostic equipment you have, it should pick it up.
