Shims for 5speed
I'm in the process of installing my 5spd, but I need the shims to finish the project. According to the dealer, there are 33 shims in the transmission. I'm not sure if all 33 are needed?? Does anyone have information on the exact shim part-numbers?? How many are needed and cost??? The dealers my rob me... Thanks.

You need to measure the preload on the bearing first to select the proper size shim.
You can't use just any shim.
I think the motorvate site has some instructions on shimming the differential bearings correctly.
www.motorvate.ca go to the 5 speed tranny rebuild section.

In my case I needed 2 shims. This is the hard part since my local dealer did not stock any shims, so I purchased 4, and with the 2 I had from the tranny I had a total of 6, that gave me 12 different sizes.
Good Luck.
PS my tranny now has 66,000 Km (41,000 miles)since the correct shims were added and all is great!
