Replacing Antenna Mast - Help

I am looking for help in replacing the antenna mast onn my 96' Maxima. I bought the mast on Ebay and I took the screw off the trim. I am sure that this is a commom problem and would use the search feature to look for past posts, but the feature does not seem to be working. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Most antennas install the same. What exactly is your question. Everyting should just unscrew and plug in. No need to force anything.

kratz74,

I ended up taking out the whole motor. The base of the antenna would not come out. I ended up pulling it so hard that it broke at the base. There is still enough of the base for me to try pulling with pliers. I think it is just that it is really jammed in there. I've already tried removing every screw I could find to see if there was any screw holding the mast in. Nothing. I think it is jsut really jammed. At least I can work on in the house now ... it's freezing out there!! Thanks for the help.

dude dude dude - your doing it all wrong

first take off the antenna nut, then turn on your radio, and pull out the whole assembly. then put in the new antenna with the teeth facing the back of the car and have a friend turn the radio off - and the motor will suck it in, and thats it.

I wish it were that easy. I am way past that point. When I was at that point the mast would not come out. It is so jammed in there that the mast broke. I am basically going to have to get a whole new motor. Anyone know how the "univeral" motors/antenna assemblies sold on ebay are???? Thanks.

Don;t force it. I did that once and dented a car. Maybe just walk away for a while and come back after you had some food and drink. Like I said, if its not coming out easy there is somehting small you probably overlooked. Antennas should just pop right in and out.
