1996 Fuel Filter

I get a hesitation from my 1996 when pressing the gas from a complete stop. I believe my fuel filter is quite old. I'm going to try changing this as a first step.

How difficult is this to change? If it is, does anyone have the procedure?

Thanx...

It's not that hard to do. It's just that it's in a difficult spot. Clean your throttle body - goto www.motorvate.ca for instructions. That might help cure your hesitation.

And it's easier to do both at the same time. Taking off the airbox and piping (required to get to the TB) makes it easier to reach the fuel filter as well.

Its easy to change, just make sure you get the clamps off and don't pull the filter on the hose, pull the hose off the filter, otherwise your just making the hose like a set of chinese fingercuffs, and you'll never get it off...

I've never changed my fuel filter on my 95 yet. I suppose it probably should be done every now and then

Hardest part is getting the hose off the filter.
If you reach up from underneath, and have a buddy pull from
above.

60,000 miles? you should go threw 4 fuel filters in that span of time. If you look in your owners manual it should be replaced every 15,000 miles. I change mine every 12,000 miles. Then again if you don't care about the performance of your car change it every 20,000+ miles. By the way don't use purolator or anything else made in china. They are cheaply manufactured.

Here's a good page with a decent fuel filter change procedure:
