lately i have noticed my engine sounds as if it is knocking, it is loudest when i first start my car and then gets better, but never goes away. i have read lately that carbon deposits can lead to a knocking sound. if anyone has experienced the same noise please help. have always taken very good condition of my car. 1996 83,000, auto

one more question, i was recently driving home from san diego to my house in phx, az.on (1-12) and had to drive through a very large and wet storm. i had been in sd for two days and it did nothing but rain. after driving through the heart of the storm, the car began hesitating, and did not want to accelerate over 2700. so i drove a little further and pulled off the road. where i found a dry spot and let my k&n replacement filter dry. seems to have worked, but still feel as the engine is hesitating.could i have damaged my engine from driving it in all that rain?
thx

If you are not using an oil filter with an anti-drain back valve then you should start using one to help keep oil in the passage ways. As for carbon deposits you may be able to get rid of them with Fuel injector cleaner and you would also be cleaning your injectors too if they happen to be dirty. Also check your spark plugs to see if they need changing.

It,s really hard to say although K&N is a foam filter correct? I don,t have one so I don,t know. Maybe when it got wet it obstructed the amount of air into the intake causing this but as to if it damaged the engine I kind of doubt it because you didn,t "suck up" air and stall the motor which is a big problem. Hope this helps.

If it is not intake related, try (2) treatments of Techron fuel injector cleaner, if you have not already. Good luck.

See my other post. I think you've got the same problem I do.
