Just cleaned throttle body :)

I just cleaned my trottle body. I was reading about it and figured y not. It only took me about 20 minutes (and i took my time). and I have to say my car idels alittle higher than before and much smother. It even seems like my trottle has more response. I aslo took out the little mesh sceen and it seem like my intake is alttile louder. But i have to say if your car is running funnyor idleing funny do this . I was suprized how dirty mines was.

I used the instructions from www.motorvate.ca , much props to this site

Congrats, but isn't that little mesh screen there to smooth out the airflow for the MAF, providing a more accurate reading, or is it just that I'm delusional...

Many people believe that since there's no screen, the air will flow smoother into the throttle body. There's a write-up somewhere, where the dude took out the screen to see if it made any difference, and there was none.

And i highly doubt that the intake is louder now that the screen is gone, i think it's the placebo effect.

I cleaned my TB and I still have problems with my RPMs dipping too low when I throw in the clutch at stops.

Does a dirty throttle body act like a bad knock sensor...the effects of both seem to be the same.. knock sensor = decrease power, mileage and dirty TB = decrease power, throttle respone....These seem extremely similar...someone please elaborate

How low of an RPM ? My automatic dips to like 550 RPMs when I am at stops. But the car idles at like 750 rpms when in neutral or park. Off the top of my head but you might wanna try cleaning out your IACV that might help with low end RPM control.

After I cleaned mine my car was so much more responsive in the 100-300 range where auto's have a problem making power. You shoudl clean your throttle body about the same time you chaneg your oil.

You either have a vacuum leak somewhere in your intake system, or the base idle is way too low. Try verifying base idle rpm by disconnecting the tps and starting up the car. After a few revs, let it idle. Make note of the idle rpm and adjust if necessary. (assumes normal operating temperature)

Throttle position sensor (brown connector to side of throttle body). I'm just quoting the procedure. I had the same problem as you: Disengage clutch and the rpms would drop and then recover (never stalled). When I started the car with the TPS disconnected, the car would stall immediatedly. I upped the base idle with the thottle plate screw and then fine tuned with the IACV screw, and the rpm no longer dips with pressing the clutch.

Dirty IAC Valve can cause that! You can clean it but you'll need to get new gasket from dealer. Use the same spray you used to clean the throttle body.

Cleaned my TB like 2 wks ago, along with installation of Frankencar intake and throttle response increased quite a bit and seems to be a bit more low end power, (as well as mid-high, but that's because of the intake)... I think the increase in low end was due to the dirty TB... Also, i strongly suggest getting TB cleaner, but doing it while the car is off with a toothbrush and rag... Something just doesn't seem right flushing all those foreign particles down the TB...
