Writeup on the 9004 & H3 7000K H.I.D. Lights from Custommaxima.com

I just picked up my two H.I.D. kits from Custommaxima.com for my headlights and YES my foglights as well!! As they are now available in the H3 size too in addition to the 9004 size!! I was driving through the fog a couple nights ago(I might as well been driving in daylight)and the lights just cut through the fog like a knife through butter! I pulled up alongside my mother's Maxima (which I've hooked up with "superwhite" bulbs) and it made her lights look practically orange in comparison with the pure white (with a very slight bluish offset) color of the H.I.D. lamps on my car. I combined these H.I.D. lamps with white L.E.D. bulbs for my sidemarkers in 194 size and 1157 size that match perfectly with the color of the H.I.D.'s. I would HIGHLY recommend picking up the full set of the headlights and the foglights to augment your driving experience at night. Between the 2 of them...the road is clearly lit up well ahead, directly in front, and alongside the front corners of the car so well....I forget that I'm driving at night! One of the best investments that I've ever made on my Maxima for sure....any questions about them, feel free to ask. Lata!

I don't see them on the web site either

How much? Where did you get the 194 LED bulbs? Who makes the kit? What is the temperature rating? Is there any discount from buying bot kits?

How did you fit the HIDs in the fogs? I thought the light housing had to be modified in order to fit the bulbs.

He is one of the sponsored Cars by Custommaxima. So he gets to try them out first. His car is the white one in all the ads.

No fair! I want to be sponsored by Custommaxima too Like to know how much they are and who makes them. I'm really thinking about getting HIDs, especially since my wifes new car has them, I love driving it at night!

Pics and Availibility Soon...

1. Pictures were taken of my car the other night for Custommaxima.com. I'm sure there are plans to post these pictures online in the near future so as Custommaxima.com can then sell them.
2. "Kops" is the name brand of the H.I.D. lights.
3. The foglights had to be modified slightly so that the bulb will fit. Basically the metal dome that surrounds the normal H3 bulb inside the light had to be removed so the foglight would fit.
4. Price has not been released yet, but is promised to be competitive though.
5. I purchased my 194 & 1157 white LED bulbs to match my H.I.D. lights from: http://store.yahoo.com/showtimeautotrix/info.html.

I hope these answers were suitable to your questions.
Lata!

Jeremiah, what colour is the bulb in the H3? Wouldn't yellow lights in the foglights be better for practical purposes... it would cut like a knife through hot butter instead of just through butter...

As for interest in HIDs in general, I bought a set of 9004 HIDs (8000K 3200lm) from a guy in the US who has a source that is willing to do a GD for us. Check the GD section. I am waiting to receive my set and I will install them and take pics.

From the sounds of it, it is the best of both worlds... 8000K for a nice colour and 3200lm for the tops in brightness as well.

Yes...you're right...

1. Yes hot butter is certainly easier to cut through....lol.
2. For practical purposes, yellow is better for fog lights, but I have to admit, these lights still perform one thousand times better than my stock bulbs. (by the way I am unsure as to the "lm" of the bulb...only that it is 7000k..sorry) Later!

Oh I have no doubt that the H3 that you have now is head and shoulders above your stock bulbs. I was just wondering if the HID bulb that they gave you was yellow. So I am assuming that the 9004 and h3 are both 7000K?

Ideally foglights should be a lower kelvin rating... much lower. Yellow is in the 2800K range I believe.

As for lm, that stands for lumens... which is a measure of brightness. The Kelvin rating (7000K) on the other hand is a measure of colour temperature.

Today, 3/25/03, I called CM.com to inquire about said pillars and was told they'd be ready, "Sooner rather than later, probably about a month."
Assuming statement 2 is true, we are looking at 2 months from request for production. Since the production request hasn't gone in for these yet, I'd say we're definitely looking at >2 months for time to market.

I e-mailed custommaxima to inquire about the status of their projector headlight housings for gen 4 and they said that they are working on it and will let me know as soon as it is complete... but then again that's been going on for a year now??

BUT when they DO come out... it would be KILLER with HIDs!

I appreciate you for clearing up the difference between lumens and Kelvin. It's been a few years since my last science class in college...its coming back to me now But to answer you finally...they are both 7000K. Peace!
