Replacing pcv valve helps cure ACT clutch chatter!

This was totally unexpected. I read in another thread that an unsteady idle that drops below 650 rpm might be caused by a bad pcv valve, so I picked one up yesterday and installed it last night. Sure enough, it cured the idle drop, but driving it around during lunch time today, I noticed something else - I didn't have to rev the engine up nearly as high as before to keep the ACT clutch from chattering during a roll from stop! I couldn't believe it. Apparently the pcv valve's functioning during idle and tip-in helps keep a steady rpm at idle and low rpm, and my bad pcv resulted in a fluctuating rpm that resulted in clutch chatter. For the first time I was able to start rolling without touching the gas pedal (it used to die before, or else the clutch would chatter so much it was awful), and the clutch action starting out is so much smoother. Woohoo!

How long did it take to replace the PCV valve?

Maybe so. But that would be quite a coincidence.

About 20 minutes, but that's because I broke the rubber hose that the pcv valve connects too. It had become brittle with age. I spent about 10 minutes finding the right diameter hose in my box of automotive odds and ends.

Ok thanks, I suppose I should change mine. I removed the hose the other day and attempted to remove the hose and it didn't budge, so I left it alone. I'll do it this weekend.....Thanks again

Sounds logical to me. Anything that helps you maintain steady rpms while engagine the clutch will reduce clutch chatter.
