Whistling engine mount???
Is this possible??
Not sure if any of you are familiar with my ongoing "whistling noise at idle" saga..........
Any how today the whistling was driving me more nuts than usual.
I broke out a piece of 5/8" heater hose to use like a stethascope to pinpiont where the nosie is coming from.
You wont brlieve this but its coming from the right side upper engine mount! I am 95% sure its coming from there. Is this possible??
I know the lower mounts are electronically controlled but the upper isnt. Is it still liquid filled like the others?
WTF???

Re: Whistling engine mount???
If there is no harness going to it, there is no reason why it should make any noise at all! I didn't know only the lower mounts of a GLE were electronically modulated... BTW, if you use a real mechanics stethescope, it will be a lot more sensitive than just using a rubber hose.

Yeah I hear you...had one of the "real" ones.......sold it when I got out of the business .
The upper one doesnt have ane connectors on it, just the lower ones like you said.
The only other thing I can think that it could be is the water pump.....I seriously hope its not that (dont even know where its located)
Its just strange that the sound is most loud directly coming from that mount.....the surrounding areas (timing chain case, etc) arent as loud as the mount itself......
