if you have an aftermarket intake this is very very common, nothing to worry about, kinda sounds like a duck for a second right? I get that too, and have been told by alot of people the same thing i told you

its hard to explain the sound
Try to describe the sound. Is it a squeal? Is it a rattle? Is it a knock? Does it sound like an animal? Is it a hiss? Does it screeeeeath? Buzz? Honk? Chirp?

Approximately where in the engine bay is it coming from? Left, right, middle, top, bottom, front, rear..??

More info please... we'll do our best to help you.

its normal , cold engine is always louder...

Hey NavyMax, buy your nick i'm assuming that you are in the Navy, but I could be wrong, if so where are you stationed?
I'm in Great lakes RTC

The noise is normal, cold metal "shrinks" thus making more noise,
but as longest everything is nice and quiet after it gets worm
you have nothing to worry .

Nick

Is the noise a loud gtinding noise that stops after a couple of seconds? If so it is a common problem that many experience with these models . others have tried many things. the only thing that worked for me was replacing the starter. After that the grinding noise stopped. But try looking for other messages on this board regarding starting problemsor cold start problems. You should be able to pull up more info.

i was about to post the same question until i read this thread.

mine makes a loud squelling noise.kinda like when you hould the ignition to long but thats not it.it will squell for about a second and the car will idle ruff and the shut off.only does this in the mornings.but if i just turn the key half way for a few seconds it wont do it.i wanna think its my fuel pump not preasuring the system enough or maybe i got some dirty filters.hopefully its not the pump.

o and im navy.stationed in jax florida.hows life pushing boots.

nothing is wrong with any part of you car.
maxima's are programmed to run rich on startup until the engine is warm. everyone's maxima will idle high (engine will be louder) until the engine warms up and the rev's drop.

diggytdog, your starter needs to be regreased.
