1) I want 17"x7" rims for the Max. Will 235/45-17 fit properly on the 7" wide rim or do I need the 215/50-17 size? Also, what is a good offset?

2) I was looking into OEM SE fog lights from the dealship. Is there pre-wiring on my GLE for an easy install or should I let them install? Would they even fit?

Any info or other suggestions would be a big help. Thanks.

I think you will have to go with the 215/50/17's because I don't think 235/45/17's will fit on a 17"x7" rim.

tires...

I have 225/50/16's on my factory 16X6.5 rims, so yeah, 235's will fit on 7" rims. Go for it!

GLE wiringings

I have a 97 GLe and I installed the factor fogs not too long ago, and it was not that difficult. Took me about 2 hrs--but then again, I was doing it at night and I am not that mechanically "tested", I did okay.
If you order it from courtesy nissan, it was about $170 with shipping...it is more or less, plug and play and the instructions are included with all the parts in the fog light set.

hope that helps.

All models except for the very base models come prewired for things sch as the foglights and the intermittent wipers, or so I was told.

Your car is prewired for foglights. The stock kit is just plug and play. The hardest part is cutting the bumper. Instructions are included with the kit and it took me around 1.5 hours to install it when I did mine. I paid $160 from Courtesy Nissan, but that was three years ago.

hmm, I have a 97 gxe almost stock ( have the auto tranny, not my fault ) and I got the factory fogs and every prewired thing is there except the socket for the foglight, the switch and the relay wireing was there. I went to Nissan and they say it should be there. I havent looked because its too cold out and Im just lazy but it was very easy to install them. Now if only they would turn on.
