diesel like noise from the engine bay...

I'm expecting the worst -(auto) transmission , I bought it with 88K, now i'm at 120K and i have no knowledge of prior work on the tranny.
recently I started to notice this whinning, diesl like noise when the vehicle begins to accelerate, esspecially noticable through 1st and 2nd gear , especially with cold engine.
so far i took great care of the car, regular oil changes/tranny flush, always maintaned the proper fluid level.
Please respond with any ideas, all info will be apprecited.
BTW, it's not suspension related i'm 100% possitive.

I'm suspecting either tranny bearings or timing chain tensioners
but with engine in N there is no noise, it only happens when accelerating from complete stop.

thanks

Nick

If you put the car in neutral when the engine is cold then rev the engine is the sound there? If not you can eliminate the timing chain tensioners. If that is the case then you are probably looking at drive line, CV Joints, Transaxle or tranny.
