ahh!! what in the heck did i do to my tranny?
ooooo i hope i didn't hurt my car!
i was in front of my work and all my friends were just getting out, so i decided to put on alittle show for them. it rained at about 4pm, and it was 10:30pm when i got out. so i floored it and my intake growled and i spun my tires for a good 25-30 feet. durring that time i went over a bump which cause my tires to jump and my engine reved really high and then when i got off of the bump the rmps went back down again. (this happened in a fraction of a second.) so after that happened i noticed that my check engine light turned OFF, and then when i tryed to floor it the most it would do is bring it up to 2,500rmps and not go anymore... no matter how much i tryed. i came to stop lights and it took about 1,500rpms to make my car move, and once again i floor it and the car went no where.
so about a mile down the road i found a place i could pull over and turn off my car. so i turned it off, waited a minute, and started it back up. when i did that my overdrive light was blinking for 5 seconds and then it went away. after that my car was fine and had no more problems. i know when the o/d light blinks it means there is a problem with the tranny. but what the hell happened? is there anything i should worry about? thanks guys.

man, i did the exact same thing you did a while back, sept my tires were spinnin for like 50 ft (the road was puddling) and my tranny stuck in 3rd. but i stopped, put the tranny in N and turned off the car and restarted it and it was ok. my OD has never worked on my car but when that happend it worked untill i cut the engine off to restart. i havent had any problems since then tho. i hope its not too bad
that happened to me in my old 96' max. i would floor it and the rmps would fly up but no power, and when i floored it, it felt like 1/3 throttle when it was normal. i turned it off and it was fine an hour later. i dont know why it happened, but you prolly screwed up the computer ecu, and when u turned it off it sort of reset its self?
when ur o/d light blinks weyhn starting the car this is a code for fail safe mode. this is when ur car turns of 4th gear and locks the torque converter and keeps ur tranny in 3r gear. this is normal after exxcesice weel spinning and hard driving the nxt time around u start ur car. o/d will blink for 6 seconds. the next start should de-activate fail safe mode..
well judging form the responces i guess my car is fine.. ah, but i was scared for alittle while. i finally have a nice car and i was Afraid that i messed it up! well thanks guys for the support! i feel good now!
