Clutch slipping

I was drving down the highway and got on the throttle in top gear at about 80 and my clutch started slipping. Where are some places and what are some good clutches to get? I plan on doing all the work myself, so i need all the help i can get. Any tips? Does anyone have a stage two dual friction centerforce? I think i am gonna shy away from the ACT because i have heard too many stories about disentegrating transmissions with that setup. I know i can get the centerforce disc and pressure plate for about 250 plus shipping. Is there anything else i will need to replace besides the T/O bearing? Why don't i have the money for the flywheel? Thanks for the help and advice.

Maybe I'm just lucky or don't drive my car like an idiot....

But I've got over 88,000 on the original factory clutch with no signs of slippage yet. Why ask for trouble with some other brand you might not need?

Assuming you haven't tweaked much more power out of her I'd go with a factory replacement again.

Clutch + pressure plate + Throwout bearing + carefull examination of flywheel should suffice. And check the engine mounts too. One let go on me....

if you do'nt know which clutch to get, chances are you shouldn't do the work yourself. this is by no means an easy job. it takes a lot of time and indepth knowledge of the transmission to replace the clutch. also how are you going to resurface your flywheel by yourself?
i was under the impression that a stage 2 clutch was for racing purposes. a street application clutch would be better, or just get a factory replacement.

Yeah.... I second that, the clutch on the Max is a PITA to replace. I helped a friend with a 99SE and it royally sucked......

Midas or many autoparts stores will resurface a flywheel....

The car has 120k and has never given me any trouble. It just started slipping. I have looked at and researched the cenerforce clutch setup. I want to do this on my own so that i can learn more about my car. I have a couple of mechanic friends who are willing to help me and I really don't have the cash to pay someone to do it. My budget is a little tight right now. I do plan on doing some modifications in the near future that will probably warrant the stage two setup. I thought about the OEM replacement, but I decided to go a step or two further. besides, for 250 plus shipping it is not a bad deal.
