I recently put in some piaa superwhites in my Max, and I do agree that it does provide slightly better lumination than the stock bulbs. However, it doesn't seem to brighten more area (which I was hoping it would do). In any case, has anyone tried any other brand of 9004 bulbs for their headlights-- such as Sylvania coolblues- or any others they can recommend? and how those have worked? honestly, for 70 bucks I would have expected a bit more light.

If you want more light>>

Your probably not going to find any replacement bulbs that will out do the piaas. If you really want more light then either put a APC wire harness kit and put some 85 by 100 watt bulbs in or just get some foglights.

if you want more light...

you can try cutting out the plastic piece in front of the bulb. that will allow the light to spread farther out.

XENON PLAMSA

I heard that the APC 9004 Xenon Palmas Superwhites looks like HID! Let me know if anyone heard about them.

I have APC's....

and they do look similar to HIC. They are not quite the same though. They are IMO the best replacement bulbs for the price. I paid 35 for the pair, I think they run more like 49 for a pair. Check em out...

sylvania

lights are pretty darn good. I noticed the stock altima from 98 on uses the sylvania lights--don't know if the bulbs are also sylvania but the headlight cases says the name. I saw that washing my girlfriend's car this past weekend. I have always noticed that her light is brighter than my maxima's (sad---I paid more for my car, shouldn't I get a brigher light?) I am thinking it is the 9004 type bulbs. But there is something about the light in the area and depth of the illumination that I like--and despite that it is lacking that "whitish light" of my Piaa;s, they are equally as good. And the sad thing is she didn't have to pay 70 bucks for it too.
how are those sylvanias? are they comparable to the piaas? or the apc? would I need a new engine harness for the apc bulbs? I want to know just in case--when those piaas go one day, I don't think I want to spend another 70 on them again.
=)

Get Narva Rangepower 9004s. Whiter, brighter, and cheaper than PIAAs.

You will get better light from the ExtraVision bulbs vs the cool blue. The ExtraVision however, will not give you the "HID look". The cool blue have more of the HID look but not as good light. I gave up the cosmetic HID look for better light quality. Whats more important, giving your car the Mercedes headlight look or actually seeing the road better. Your call.

I NEED TO SEEEE

and that is definetely the case. I need to see, and that is the primary reason why I went with the piaa superwhites because the stock light was so blurry and I just couldn't see squat in front of me at night. The Extra vision is 55watt bulbs? no engine harness required?
would you know how much they cost and where I can get a set?

MicahGLE-- what about the Narva Rangepower 9004s? can one take a look at these on the internet (or what stores would carry them?) these are the regular 65/45watt bulbs, correct?

thanks for the info guys...

light quality

So from what has been mentioned here, what is the conclusion that I can safely infer? the two bulbs that provide the best illumination of the road while maintaining the 65/45wattage use is the sylvania extravision and the piaas?
The piaa's look white, but I am more concerned about getting the most light on the road--I honestly wouldn't care if the light was neon pink with pokadots just as long as I can see well.
I think the extravisions are less than the piaa's? i think the piaa's are overrated--next time I am going to try the APC or the sylvania extra vision.
