$1,360.00 is not really that bad. You did not get the LSD tranny from Brandywine did you? Contact PJ from MAXX Tuning about the EXEDY stage 1 clutch he is running a GD for $225.00. I have a little over 200 miles on it and it feels very good. You may want to call Nissan Service and tell them to refrence the part numbers for the auto and manual starters and see if they are the same part numbers. Best of luck man! Let me know if I can help in any way.

I found the 80K mile '96 I30 lsd tranny for $1100 shipped from car-parts.com coming from WI. Brandywine had a lsd tranny there? If they did, I'm going to be pi$$ed, I could've saved some money. So this EXEDY clutch should be able to hold my 275hp/253tq? Ok, now what about which STS to get?

Oh no Brandywine did not have any LSD's, only non-locking trannys. Do you feel comfortable with a 96 tranny? What about the diff. bearing problems? Do the LSD's have these problems associated with them?

The EXEDY clutch can supposedly hold 350 lbs of torque. For a STS I would go B&M. I have one from Ebay, Topspeed I think. It feels nice and everything but from looking at the pics of the B&M the B&M looks like a way more solid and superior product. So you are keeping the SC after all?

Ok, just checking about the non-locking ones, I thought you were saying that might have had a lsd one there. I'm planning on taking it to a transmission shop to get it checked out before I install it, hopefully the LSD ones don't have those bearing problems I keep hearing. I'm reading that GD post on it right now, and I'm probably going to pick up the phone in a few minutes to order if they're still open and I can possibly get a flywheel as well. My cousin was telling me to stay away from something that would look like it would break on me, so healso recommended B&M. I have to search for prices on it.

Thats a good idea about taking it to a tranny shop but they really can't tell without cracking it open and then you might be talking even more money. I just got my car back from the tranny shop complete tear down and rebuild, new clutch and he installed a new master cylinder and slave cylinder and a new trans. axel. Total bill was $2,100.00

I don't know maybe something to think about. But if you do the STS try a B&M if you don't like sell it to me.

The guy wants to make sure I have the LSD tranny before he starts removing the axles. His computer was saying theres no difference between an auto starter and a manual one, is that true? Hopefully I could save some money and use my current one. Now I have to get a new clutch but don't know which one and I'm still wondering if I should get the short throw shifter now or later since I still have to learn how to drive stick. Which is easier to learn, short or stock? So as of right now, looks like I spent $1360, and still need a clutch and few little items.

yep - manual and Auto Starters are exactly the same...I'm using an Auto Starter on my converison....seems to fit fine (although i haven't started yet - I'm missing the banjo fitting for the hydraulic lines and have to wait 2 days to get it shipped in) :msd:

Yea, I'm doing a local supercharger install on a 5-spd Max and the driver says he has a guy who works with nissan trannies and he claims the guy will open it up and check it out for cheap if its already off the car, hopefully he comes through. I'm still keeping the SC, I think this will be the last thing done to the Max for a really really long time. I'm planning on getting the master and slave cylinders brand new, though Brandywine only charged me $50 total for both, so I might tell him I won't need those. I'll let you know which STS I get though.

139 seems cheap man. I thought they were more like 175. Go for it. If you need any OEM parts let me know I got a hook up over here in VA.

Ok cool, I'll probably order this like next week since the flywheel and clutch I ordered from Maxx Tuning is going to take awhile. I'll let you know about the locking pin and clip for the clutch pedal to the master cylinder and return spring that www.hlh0501.com seems to say I should buy these new.
