engine baby engine!!

has anyone ever tried boring the vq engine to enlarge liter?? lets say around 3.5... well right now im lookin to rebuilt my engine and tranny, but i dont no if it'll be cheaper to get a new engine or just to build it up with bigger pistons and valves... im not all that familiar with engine build up... can neone help? basically i need a new/used engine or rebuild one... which would be cheaper?? and i want to get a new clutch and an lsd, but i heard that there are only a few hundred LSD's in the US... im not doing all this at once but soon... can anyone help??

i don't know too much about boring out a motor, but i know that you wont be able to achieve a 3.5L with it. there was talk awhile back about using a VQ35 parts in a VQ30. i'd say search but that's been disabled for us commoners. it'd definately be cheaper to get a new/used VQ30, but if you are planning to boost, i'd say build up your motor.

It'd be cheaper to get a new motor, or probably a new car from the sounds of it. What happened?

It's not a Chevy 350. There is no supply of oversized pistons. There is probably no supply of mechanics with any experience in it either....

well to beggin i bought the car with 34000 miles on it... now it has around 86000... but i was putting in 10w-d30 oil in for about 40000 miles.. from what i hear that could ruin the engine... now the engine jerks and feels like its slipping when i accelerate... almost the same feeling when u first learn how to drive manual and u jerk da car back and forth... well im a dumba$$ nehow now im in need of a new engine and the new clutch i bought is almost destroyed because of my aggressive driving and letting my newbie manual friends drive it....

have you had anyone look at your car, or are you just assuming that you need a new engine? i don't understand the whole 10w-d30 oil thing.do you mean 10-w30? and if so i don't think thats your problem. from what you described it sounds like a tranny problem and not an engine problem. i don't see how using the wrong weight oil for 40,000 miles would ruin your engine.

It might be since we're supposed to use 5w-30...

i still don't think that the extra 5w would kill an engine

You need to take your car to a mechanic... and not mentioning anything about needing any parts. Let them figure it out.

Running 10w30 isn't a great idea but it really wouldn't hurt anything either. At most your gas mileage would be a little bit worse, that's it. Now, you and your newbie friends certainly could have fried the clutch and related bits but I doubt you need a new motor and tranny.... Sounds to me more like your clutch is fried. Now that's a lot cheaper....

my mistake its 5w30 oil.... but if i dont need a new engine or replace parts in the engine... how would u explain the rpm spikes that i get... would that be tranny related too? becuase sometimes when i step on the clutch pedal a few times the rpns go back to normal and sometimes it doesnt... the highest it ever got was 1700 - 2000 rpms.... and im not sure if this is related to anything, but my shift *** does not go back to the center... it stays to the left side... when i first got the car it went back to the middle....

now i def. think its a tranny problem. you should check your ecu for codes, and get your tranny looked at by a professional.

You need more than a clutch if your whole shifter assembly is askew....

Take it to a good garage. Let them try to diagnose it...
