Forgot to mention - got that with T/O Bearing for $300 shipped.
So total cost is really $900

The things that hlh mentions as "buy from the dealer" are usually there for a reaosn (Like the return spring, because you want it to be brand new)

The Cartech Adjustable FMU I have is tuned pretty well, but the AFC should allow me to "even out" the fuel curve even moreso.
(I haven't gotten around to tuning it yet)

OK - new problem.....2 actually
I can't find the "banjo" fitting for the slave cylinder....I've looked everywhere - it appears it was never shipped, but I can't be sure.
So we're done except for that. Nissan says it will take 3-4 days to get, but NAPA says they can have one tomorrow....hopefully they will, but I have to work 7am-7pm for the next 2 days...sucks...
The other problem is this:
It will shift into 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and R just fine, but NOT 3rd!!!
stick doesn't even budge a little bit into that gear....just hits a solid wall.
Now, the car hasn't been started or moved, but this concerns me....any ideas/statements?

I know that this was my problem. I corrected this be spacing the support bar out away from the tranny with washers.....

You had the exact same problem with 3rd gear, but no other gear?
Every other gear shifts amazingly smoothly.

Everything is done except for that hydraulic fitting I'm waiting for.

I installed the rods and got under there while I had someone move the shifter around, and I didn't see/hear anything hitting together. Guess we'll just have to take a look.

mtrai760 installed the rods, and says he didn't see any rubbing....
So did you only lose 3rd or not?
Anyway, I'll check it out when I get up there again in 2-3 days (have to work 12 hour days for the next 2 days)
Thanks!

It will allow the tranny to spin a little bit and get the synchros lined up.

Well, we checked the rods, and they don't rub whatsoever...
Still, trying to shift into 3rd is like hitting a brick wall.
I think the tranny is screwed, personally, but others tell me I just need to get it started, and let everything sync up.
Unfortunately, I can't do that right now because I ordered the banjo fitting from NAPA, and they of course got the wrong one. No clutch, no move....
Anyone have any ideas/suggesstions/analysis?

Ian, I never saw your tranny shift into third before we installed it, and I thought Sarin said it still wouldn't shift into 3rd when he put it back together. Sarin got it to shift when everything was apart I think, but I'm not positive. 3rd is straight in, not out, out is 4th.

EB says that you guys had a really hard time in every gear, until it loosened up after awhile...that true?
(No, 3rd is straight back (all the way extended) on the mechanism on the tranny itself, I meant, of course is straight forward on the stick)

Hmm, don't know what EB is talking about, sure it was hard to get in every gear, but the car also is not running, so of course its hard to get in gear, I dont know anything about it getting easier though... I don't know, I guess just get the car running and pray...

No biggie....he tends to exaggerate pretty much everything.

No, they were all confused at first, they thought the shifter was screwed up and at an angle, and thought it would only go into 1,2,3 and 4th, but they were skipping right by 4th and reverse. Eb thought 5th was 3rd...

Well, I have afriend picking up the hydraulic fitting from the Dealership right now...
I called several tranny shops today. All of them said that i shouldn't even start the car, because if something is loose in there, it can cause major problems.
However, when we had the tranny apart, there was nothing floating around in there (although there is a 2nd stay bearing that we looked for for 45 minutes and couldn't find)
It oculd be they just odn't want me to start it because they don't want me to get it working and want to charge me to look at it.
decisions, decisions.....

try cranking the engine instead of starting it with the wheels in the air. i remember i couldnt really get into gears after the conversion until the car was on.

I ended up getting non-LSD, because I got a great deal on everything ($600 for all conversion parts).
Yesterday I went to the Nissan Dealer and verified - the passenger side axle is the same for both 5spd and manual...ABS or not. SO you only need a Driver's side axle.
