Do belts squeel if too tight, or only too loose?

Do belts squeel if too tight, or only too loose?

I installed my RVM pulley about a month and a half ago. A few weeks ago, the belts began to squeel loudly at start up. At first it only lasted a second or two, now it lasts 5-10 seconds and is much worse when it's wet outside.

Is it possible that I overtightened the belts, or do belts only squeel when they are too loose?? I know for a fact they were nice and tight when I installed them (possibly too tight??) but I'm thinking that maybe they stretched a little?

Any ideas?

just tighten them up a little. we had to do that after a few weeks from a pulley install because the belts stretch a little after they break in. tightening the tensioner solved that squeeling at startup

for(belt=0,belt<=too_tight,belt++);
front-main_seal--;

hehe, too much C++ here!

umm, if the belt is too tight, you could lose the front main seal, which, while not too bad, is a PITA to replace.
