Frankencar questions...paranoia?
Okay I installed the Frankencar a little while ago and I just have a few questions...
- It sounded in the instructions like the BIG->Small adapter guy goes between the mid pipe and the MAF but there is NO WAY IN HELL that it is going to fit on there. I noticed that the accordion guy that comes from the factory that goes from the TB to the resonator is also BIG->small so I used the Frankencar adapter to connect the TB to the midpipe...is this right!?!? I had to stretch it like a **** just to get it on the TB...there is just no way it would fit over the MAF. I'm thinking I might just get a new accordion guy and use that instead...
-The **** wistles. No, I'm not talking about that cool *** sound at idle..I'm talking about under slight throttle it WHISTLES. Not loud, but it's whistling. Is this normal? I've heard about a whistling sound at idle but... I have done my best to check for leaks and make sure the clamps are tight... I'm pretty sure it's not leaking but the whistling is a bit disconcerting...
Other than that the thing is awesome. They sent me the bigger K&N, so I had to move the two wires that usually are attached to the side of the engine bay down under the intake, but that seems to work a-ok. the sound of this thing is absoloutly insane. Not much power difference EXCEPT when going fast in the upper end. No question it pulls from 65+ more than it used to. The throttle response is MUCh better. I always tended to under-rev when I rev-matched my downshifts, but it's much easier to hit it right on with the midpipe.
